Permaculture Design & Consultancy

Residential & Commercial

A permaculture garden design offers a regenerative approach that mimics natural ecosystems, creating a self-sufficient and resilient landscape tailored to your needs.

Approaching a garden with a Permaculture outlook brings balance back to the garden where you can live aligned with nature to grow abundance not just for you but for the wildlife around you as well and make your garden habitat for that wildlife whilst making it self-sufficient in food for you, the family and beyond.

Through observation and careful planning of plant placement through zones based on their care needs, companion planting for natural pest control , and incorporating elements like rainwater harvesting, and composting. The design emphasizes biodiversity, using perennials, food forests, and wildlife-friendly habitats, while minimizing waste and external inputs. By creating closed-loop systems, a permaculture garden supports long-term soil health, water conservation, and ecological balance the endless benefits of it benefitting the health and wellness of you, the soil and the wildlife so you can live in harmony with nature while improving it.

The Process

A permaculture consultation for a garden, rooftop, or farm focuses on creating a self-sustaining, ecologically harmonious system that meets your needs while enhancing the natural environment. From your perspective as a customer, here's what the process typically looks like:

  • The consultation usually starts with an in-depth discussion about your goals, vision, and challenges for your space. Depending on location I  will visit your site (or review photos/plans) to evaluate the current state of your land or garden, including its size, layout, and existing vegetation. I also take into account factors like climate, sunlight, wind patterns, water sources, and soil quality.

  • I will ask about your personal or family’s needs. For example, are you aiming for food production, creating a natural habitat, energy efficiency, or a beautiful space to relax? We will discuss how much time and effort you can invest in maintaining it and whether you prefer a more hands-on or hands-off approach to management.

  • A detailed map of your site will likely be created. I will assess how natural elements interact on your property over time. This could include tracking how water flows across the landscape, understanding seasonal variations, where sunlight hits, and where wind barriers are needed and protection from larger pests if needed.

  • After understanding the site and your goals, i will present a tailored design that integrates permaculture principles like water conservation, waste recycling, biodiversity, and regenerative soil practices. This design will suggest planting native species, food forests, creating habitats for wildlife, and sustainable water solutions (like rainwater harvesting or greywater systems). If it’s a rooftop garden, the design will account for weight limitations, wind exposure, and urban biodiversity.

  • The proposal will also explain how to incorporate elements like companion planting, edible landscaping, natural pest control, and crop rotation. For larger farms, it might include animal systems that support crop growth, rotational grazing, or natural fertilizer production.

  • Item Once the design is approved, I offer advice on how to phase the project based on your budget and priorities. Some consultants offer follow-up services to help with sourcing materials or plants, and guide you through initial installation steps. Unless you use us for the install phase. For farms or larger projects, ongoing support and education may be part of the service to ensure long-term success.

  • Throughout the process, you’ll learn how your design will reduce energy inputs, spend less each year, enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and create a closed-loop system that provides yields for years to come.

Overall, a permaculture consultation is a holistic approach where I seek to empower you with knowledge and design a space that not only looks good but functions as a thriving ecosystem aligned with nature.
